Betlin Books and Resources

Betlin Books and Resources was established in 2004 to work with a limited number of authors to create books and resources that enrich the mind, nurture the spirit, and ignite the imagination. As a small, independent publisher we can be selective in projects and flexible in delivery, serving an audience interested in excellence and growth of mind, spirit, and creativity. Between them, the publishers have more than thirty years experience in book production, literary agency work, writers conference and arts group leadership, as well as a strong background and graduate degrees in education.

Currently Betlin Books is pleased to be focusing on work with Dr. Candice Styer and Suzanne Fitzgerald, M.Ed. to bring their Functional Academics Programs to a wider audience. Based on over twenty-five years of combined classroom experience and success in helping students with disabilities learn basic academic and real life skills, the Styer-Fitzgerald Functional Academics Curriculum combines diagnostic and on-going assessment with detailed lessons and supporting materials.

Using the Styer-Fitzgerald Functional Academics Program, students begin learning at their individual point of readiness and progress steadily through appropriate content and skill levels, always supported by repetition and progress assessment.  Teachers can use the placement guides and lesson goals to create IEP's and progress reports. Paraprofessionals and peer tutors trained in use of the  materials use the Curriculum with consistent results, providing support and continuity of progress. School districts using the Styer-Fitzgerald Functional Academics Programs district wide or even in several grades can be assured of cohesive, continual progress between classrooms and on-going assessment.  Unsolicited parent feedback supports the effectiveness of the Curriculum.
